Frequently Asked Questions

Can I complete my court-ordered or school volunteer hours at Tracy Interfaith?

Yes! We will track your hours for you and then help you report your hours when you are done.

How old do you have to be to volunteer?

Children under 14 can volunteer but must have an adult over 18 with them at all times.

What jobs do you have available for volunteers?

Our needs change daily. We place volunteers in areas as needed to ensure we are successfully fulfilling our mission.

We need food weighed, sorted and shelved; clothing sorted and hung; food orders taken and filled. We need help making boxes, cleaning, and organizing. We also need seasonal help with our backpack program, holiday programs and our annual auction.

We also need warehouse and receiving supervisors, receptionists, front desk interviewers, and pantry shoppers. These jobs require a regular weekly commitment.

If you are good on computers or with basic handyman projects, we can always use your help!

Can we come volunteer as a group?

Yes, we love having families, friends, Scout troops, youth groups, and even corporate groups come to volunteer! Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring a group to volunteer so we can make sure we have work for everyone to do. We can typically only accommodate up to 10 people at a time in a group. Each individual in your group will need to fill out his or her own volunteer application.

What days and hours can I volunteer?

You can volunteer Monday through Thursday 10 am to 2 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 12 pm. On Saturdays the building is closed to clients. You can park in the front and enter the warehouse directly through the south gates between our building and the fire station.

Do I have to sign up for a specific time slot or let you know when I’ll be coming?

No. You can just show up any time we are open and we will put you to work! You can stay for as little or as long as you are able to. If you want to take on a more regular job and time slot, please let us know!

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes and clothes that you can work in and maybe get a little dirty. The warehouse can get a little warm in the summer and a little cold in the winter so dress accordingly.
